cant decide what oil to use assome people recomend normal motorbike 2stroke oil which i see alot of you use however its designed for bikes and its thick and not made for rc cars (strimmer engines) for strimmer engines you should use a thinner oil so the engine runs more freely and less likely to sieze. there are 2 stroke oils designed for strimmer engines so would it be best to use these. your thoughts please on this subject

aye a747 all the way, word of cautoin tho.. if u do start using DONT revert back to something else as it will probably cause problems with ya engine. It's ok going from another brand to a747 ...but not vice versa :)

Hmm the 747 is a 2 stroke oil that is fully synthetic designed primerily for Motor bikes I think the important thing from the quote below also useable!
Quote
"Castrol A747 is a specially formulated low ash, synthetic based hybrid.
For use in multi cylinder, water cooled, race prepared motorcycle engines.
FIM Road Racing World Championship ref 404752/01

Also useable in Karts, Model Cars. ( 40:1 in Rotax Max kart engines. 125 and 250 Gearbox Karts at 25:1)"

One of the problems with using these types of oils esspecily the kind used for racing motorbikes a few years ago it was ruled that bikes on race tracks in certain countries had to pass an emmission test, so thats why a lot are clean burning and low ash etc etc. this is used by a detergent being added to the mix which removes oily residue 1. makes it burn cleaner and 2 freeer in theroy.
However in our 2 strokes we kinda want that oily residue it prolongs the life of the engine which is why a specialist 2 stroke oil designed for the engines a good idea.
For example either of the King Cobra oils
1 venom castor based
2 complex competition Fully synthetic
3 Klotz semi synthetic
4 Klotz fully synthetic (due in soon)

Personal favourite Klotz Super Techniplate semi synthetic it is an excellent all rounder 20% Benol pure racing castor and fully synthetic blend very low smoke very clean burning and all the benefit of both worlds!

Just my 2 penneth!

Rog

The Venom complex competition Fully synthetic oil (silver bottle) was designed for use in the old Solo engines & would not advise you use it in a Zenoah.

Castrol A747 comes highly recomended by many of the top LS racers.

Elcon Cleon, Hormann HT2, Alro engines, Nomadio React.

:D :D :D We do however have a whole stock of new heads, rings and pistons LOLOLOLOLOL for those who only want to run with a couple of squirts of WD40 in there petrol! PMSL  :D :D :D :D

I was told this info by some one who knows quite a bit about LS engine tuning/building. Just check out all the 'good' LS forums reagarding use of 2 stroke oils.

Rog, you hold onto those head kits, you might need them one day.

I would think that a large percentage of people are running stock engines that were designed for garden implements , chain saws, leaf blowers, strimmers and the likes that the 1/5 manufacturers adopted rather than design an engine better suited for rc cars. so a good oil such as venom gold would be the best choice for longer engine life and acceptable performance

how long did Waynes 26 zen last for without a new ring ? and he aint gentle with the throttle :D
